How Perma-Pipe International makes money

The company makes money by manufacturing and selling engineered piping systems, pipe coatings, and related products such as cables and leak detection equipment. It also earns revenue from custom fabrication, technical support, field service, and logistics.

What Perma-Pipe International does

Perma-Pipe International Holdings was founded in 1909 and is headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas. It builds the pipes that move energy and hazardous fluids. Its main products are pre-insulated and jacketed piping systems for district heating and cooling networks, which carry hot or chilled water from a central energy plant to the buildings it serves. It also makes containment piping, a pipe inside a pipe, for safely carrying chemicals, hazardous fluids, and petroleum products. The company was called MFRI, Inc. until it changed its name in March 2017. On top of its piping systems, Perma-Pipe coats and insulates oil and gas gathering and transmission pipelines. It applies liquid and powder anti-corrosion coatings to straight steel pipe and to fittings such as bends, reducers, and tees, for pipelines carrying oil, gas, and drinking water. It also sells leak detection systems, cables, and heat trace products, and offers custom fabrication, field service, and logistics support. Its customers are spread across North America, the Middle East, and other international markets.

What is Perma-Pipe International worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Perma-Pipe International's most-likely value is about $38 versus a recent price near $31 (21% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$22) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $31
Fair value (most likely)

Range

No-growth floor

Price

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
