How Xylem makes money

Xylem mainly earns money by selling engineered water equipment such as pumps, treatment systems, meters, and instruments to utilities, industrial customers, and building owners. It also earns from services, including maintenance, equipment rental, outsourced treatment, software, and data analytics.

What Xylem does

Xylem Inc. designs, makes, and services engineered water products for utilities, industrial customers, and residential and commercial buildings worldwide. It reports four segments: Water Infrastructure, Applied Water, Measurement and Control Solutions, and Water Solutions and Services. What is Xylem worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Xylem's most-likely value is about $90 versus a recent price near $103 (12% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$41) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $103
Fair value (most likely)
$90
Range
$67–$133
No-growth floor
$41
Price
~$103

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
