What IDEX does
IDEX Corporation is a diversified maker of engineered equipment and components, headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, and incorporated in 1987. It sells worldwide and runs three segments. Health & Science Technologies makes precision fluidics, pumps, seals, mixers, compressors, optical components and coatings, diamond tools, technical ceramics, and biocompatible medical and implantable products. Fluid & Metering Technologies supplies positive displacement pumps, valves, flow meters, provers and injectors, and provides flow monitoring services. The Fire & Safety/Diversified Products segment makes firefighting pumps, valves and controls, rescue tools, lifting bags, stainless steel banding and clamping devices, and equipment for dispensing, metering and mixing paints and colorants. Most of the portfolio is specialized products that customers build into larger systems or use in demanding industrial, scientific and safety settings.

What is IDEX worth?
On an owner-earnings DCF, IDEX's most-likely value is about $168 versus a recent price near $234 (28% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$84) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.
Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.
Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
