How Wesco International makes money

It earns a margin by reselling electrical, communications, and utility products it buys from manufacturers. It also earns fees from value-added services such as supply chain management, logistics, project management, and testing.

What Wesco International does

WESCO International, founded in 1922 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, is a business-to-business distributor of electrical, communications, and utility products, with logistics and supply chain services on top. It serves customers in the United States, Canada, and other countries through three segments. Electrical & Electronic Solutions (EES) supplies electrical equipment, automation, lighting, wire and cable, safety, and MRO products, along with project execution and manufacturing supply chain programs. Communications & Security Solutions (CSS) provides data center, network infrastructure, security, and professional A/V solutions to integrators and contractors. Utility & Broadband Solutions (UBS) serves investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, wireless providers, and broadband operators. It supplies transformers, transmission and distribution hardware, fiber and power cables, and pole line hardware. It also offers services such as fiber project management, meter testing, advanced metering installation, emergency response, and materials management. Across all three segments, WESCO makes money by reselling products at a margin and charging for added services.

What is Wesco International worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Wesco International's most-likely value is about $105 versus a recent price near $366 (71% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$60) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Stretched — richly priced.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Stretched — richly priced
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $366
Fair value (most likely)
$105
Range
$79–$157
No-growth floor
$60
Price
~$366

Today's $366 is above even the optimistic Bull case ($157) — the market expects faster, longer growth than modeled here. Expensive unless that extra growth actually shows up.

⚠ High leverage — net debt is 23.5× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
