How Verisk Analytics makes money

Verisk sells insurers data, analytics and software solutions for underwriting and claims, including policy forms, loss cost data, rating information, catastrophe models, estimating tools and fraud-detection services.

What Verisk Analytics does

Verisk Analytics, founded in 1971 and headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey, provides data analytics and technology to the insurance industry. On the underwriting side, it offers standard policy language, prospective loss costs, and policy writing and rating rules. It also provides property- and auto-specific rating and underwriting data, catastrophe modeling, life insurance workflow and actuarial tools, and end-to-end management systems for specialty insurance and reinsurance. On the claims side, Verisk offers property estimating data and networks for building repair and reconstruction professionals, fraud-detection tools for property and casualty insurers, and casualty claims compliance and workflow automation. Internationally, it focuses on personal injury and motor claims. Its offerings are built into how insurers choose risks, set prices and settle claims.

What is Verisk Analytics worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Verisk Analytics's most-likely value is about $196 versus a recent price near $178 (10% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$98) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $178
Fair value (most likely)
$196
Range
$139–$368
No-growth floor
$98
Price
~$178

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
