How Sirius XM makes money
Most revenue comes from subscription fees for Sirius XM audio and data services, with radios often shipped in new cars through automaker partnerships. It also earns advertising revenue, mainly from Pandora and off-platform audio, plus smaller sales of radios, accessories and business music services.
What Sirius XM does
Sirius XM Holdings is a New York-based audio entertainment company serving North America through two segments. The Sirius XM segment is a subscription service offering music, sports, talk, news, comedy and podcasts, delivered by satellite and streamed on mobile and home devices. Its radios are distributed mainly through automakers and retailers. The segment also provides connected-vehicle services such as safety, remote diagnostics and stolen-vehicle location, plus data services including Travel Link, graphical weather, fuel prices and traffic information. It also supplies commercial-free music for businesses and music channels on DISH Network. The Pandora and Off-platform segment runs Pandora, a personalized music, comedy and podcast streaming platform available on phones, in cars and on connected devices, and earns money mainly from advertising. Together, the two segments give the company both subscription and advertising revenue. Incorporated in 2013.

What is Sirius XM worth?
On an owner-earnings DCF, Sirius XM's most-likely value is about $60 versus a recent price near $27 (125% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$45) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Deeply discounted.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.
On the financials alone, $27 is below even the no-growth floor ($45); the market's discount — expectations and sentiment beyond the numbers — is pricing in ≈ -7.0%/yr. A bargain only if that pessimism is overdone.
⚠ High leverage — net debt is 6.0× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.
Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
