How Nexstar Media makes money

It earns money mainly by selling advertising on its TV stations, radio, websites, apps and streaming platforms. It also sells programming, sales and other services to stations, and offers digital advertising solutions to publishers and advertisers.

What Nexstar Media does

Nexstar Media Group is a diversified U.S. media company built around local broadcasting. It owns, operates, programs or provides services to TV and radio stations affiliated with ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, The CW, MyNetworkTV and other networks. These stations produce and distribute local and national news, sports and entertainment. Beyond local stations, Nexstar owns NewsNation (a national cable news network), Chicago's WGN-AM radio, and digital multicast networks. Its digital business includes 125 local websites, 229 mobile apps, 110 connected-TV apps, channels from The CW and The Hill, the BestReviews product review platform, and advertising solutions for publishers and advertisers. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, it was renamed from Nexstar Broadcasting Group in 2017.

What is Nexstar Media worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Nexstar Media's most-likely value is about $159 versus a recent price near $161 (2% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$119) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $161
Fair value (most likely)
$159
Range
$133–$210
No-growth floor
$119
Price
~$161

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

⚠ High leverage — net debt is 24.8× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
