How RPC makes money
It earns service fees from oil and gas producers for well completion, production and maintenance work done by its Technical Services segment. It also earns rental and service income from renting drill pipe and tools and from pipe handling, inspection and storage in its Support Services segment.
What RPC does
RPC, Inc. is an oilfield services company based in Atlanta, Georgia, and was incorporated in 1984. Its customers are oil and gas companies that explore for, develop and produce oil and gas. It reports two segments: Technical Services and Support Services. Technical Services is the core of the business. It covers pressure pumping, cementing, downhole tools, coiled tubing, snubbing, nitrogen, well control, wireline and fishing services used to complete, produce and maintain wells, and it also offers well control training. Support Services rents drill pipe and related tools for onshore and offshore drilling, completion and workover jobs, and also handles, inspects and stores pipe. Besides its home market, RPC works in Africa, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Latin America and the Middle East. Because its work supports drilling and completion, demand for its services depends on how active its oil and gas customers are.

What is RPC worth?
On an owner-earnings DCF, RPC's most-likely value is about $3 versus a recent price near $6 (50% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$2) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.
Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.
Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
