How Range Resources makes money

It earns revenue by producing natural gas, NGLs and oil from its Appalachian properties and selling them to utilities, midstream and marketing companies, industrial users, petrochemical firms and refiners, so its income moves with commodity prices and output volumes.

What Range Resources does

Range Resources Corporation is an independent US energy company that explores for, develops and acquires natural gas, NGL and oil properties, all in the Appalachian region. Its natural gas goes to utilities, marketing and midstream companies, and industrial users. Its NGLs go to petrochemical end users, refiners, marketers/traders and gas processors, and its oil goes to crude processors, transporters and refining and marketing companies. The company was founded in 1976 as Lomak Petroleum and took the Range Resources name in July 1992. It is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. Because it focuses on one region and mostly on gas, its results depend largely on natural gas and NGL prices and on how much it produces.

What is Range Resources worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Range Resources's most-likely value is about $32 versus a recent price near $41 (21% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$21) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
