What EQT Does & How It Makes Money (EQT)
Updated October 2026 · reflects EQT's latest reported financials
Appalachian natural gas producer with its own pipeline and marketing operations. EQT makes most of its money selling the natural gas, NGLs and oil it produces to marketers, utilities and industrial customers.

How EQT makes money
EQT makes most of its money selling the natural gas, NGLs and oil it produces to marketers, utilities and industrial customers. It also earns revenue from marketing and pipeline capacity management services, and it uses hedging to manage commodity price risk.
What EQT does
EQT Corporation explores for, produces, gathers and transports natural gas in the Appalachian Basin, and also produces natural gas liquids and oil. It sells these to marketers, utilities and industrial customers in the region. Besides production, EQT offers marketing services and manages contractual pipeline capacity. It hedges to manage commodity price risk and runs propane storage and distribution terminals. The company was founded in 1888 as Equitable Resources Inc. and took the name EQT Corporation in February 2009. It is headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Its results depend mainly on how much gas it produces and on natural gas prices, which its hedging program partly offsets.

What is EQT worth?
On an owner-earnings DCF, EQT's most-likely value is about $65 versus a recent price near $53 (23% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$43) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.
Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.
Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
