How Qualcomm makes money

Qualcomm earns most of its money selling integrated circuits and system software for mobile, automotive and IoT devices. It also collects licensing fees from device makers that use its cellular patents, including standard-essential patents.

What Qualcomm does

QUALCOMM Incorporated, founded in 1985 and based in San Diego, develops foundational wireless technologies. Its largest business, QCT, supplies integrated circuits and system software that combine connectivity and computing for mobile devices, automotive systems (connectivity, digital cockpit, ADAS/AD), and IoT products ranging from consumer electronics to industrial devices and edge networking. The QTL segment licenses Qualcomm's intellectual property portfolio, including standard-essential patents for 3G, 4G and 5G cellular devices, to manufacturers of wireless products. Through QSI, the company invests in early-stage companies in areas such as 5G, AI, automotive, cloud, IoT and extended reality. It also serves US government agencies, is involved in data center businesses, and offers software-based network security for unmanaged networks.

What is Qualcomm worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Qualcomm's most-likely value is about $188 versus a recent price near $176 (7% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$110) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $176
Fair value (most likely)
$188
Range
$151–$277
No-growth floor
$110
Price
~$176

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
