How Dauch makes money

It makes money by engineering and manufacturing driveline systems and metal-formed components and selling them to vehicle makers and industrial customers. Revenue comes from two segments, Driveline and Metal Forming, with plants across North America, Asia, Europe, and South America.

What Dauch does

Dauch Corporation, known as American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings until it changed its name in January 2026, is a Detroit-based auto parts supplier founded in 1994. It has two segments. Driveline makes axles, driveshafts, differentials, clutch modules, balance shaft systems, and electric and hybrid drive systems for light trucks, SUVs, crossovers, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles. Metal Forming makes engine, transmission, driveline, and safety-critical components for light, commercial, and off-highway vehicles, plus products for industrial markets. Its products work in internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles, so the company can keep selling as the industry moves toward electrification. It operates in North America, Asia, Europe, and South America.

What is Dauch worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Dauch's most-likely value is about $9 versus a recent price near $6 (52% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$6) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $6
Fair value (most likely)
$9
Range
$7–$12
No-growth floor
$6
Price
~$6

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

⚠ High leverage — net debt is 30.1× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
