How Balchem makes money
Balchem manufactures and sells specialty ingredients and sterilant products to food, supplement, feed, healthcare and agriculture customers. It sells through its own sales force, independent distributors and sales agents across three segments: Human Nutrition & Health, Animal Nutrition & Health, and Specialty Products.
What Balchem does
Balchem Corporation, incorporated in 1967 and headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, makes specialty performance ingredients for nutrition, food, pharmaceutical, animal health, medical device sterilization, plant nutrition and industrial markets worldwide. Its Human Nutrition & Health segment supplies food and beverage makers with powders, lipid systems, flavor delivery systems, dairy, chocolate and cereal systems. It also offers vitamin K2, microencapsulation, choline and mineral amino acid chelates for health applications. The Animal Nutrition & Health segment sells microencapsulated nutrients that support health and milk production in ruminants, chelated minerals for production and companion animals, methylsulfonylmethane, and choline chloride for monogastric animals. The Specialty Products segment distributes ethylene oxide and ammonia mainly for healthcare sterilization, along with single-use sterilization canisters. It also sells propylene oxide as a fumigant for nuts, spices, cocoa and dried fruit, plus chelated minerals for high-value crops.

What is Balchem worth?
On an owner-earnings DCF, Balchem's most-likely value is about $90 versus a recent price near $168 (46% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$45) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.
Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.
Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
