What Yancoal Australia does

Yancoal Australia is a coal producer based in Sydney that explores, develops, mines and markets thermal and metallurgical coal. Its main assets are in New South Wales: a 98.75% stake in the Moolarben mine in the Western Coalfields, 83.6% of the Mount Thorley and Warkworth mines, and 51% of Hunter Valley Operations. It also fully owns the Yarrabee mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin and the Ashton, Donaldson and Stratford Duralie mines in New South Wales. Other interests include Middlemount in Queensland, Premier Coal in Western Australia, Austar and Cameby Downs. It sells coal to Australia and to export markets, mainly in Asia: China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and several Southeast Asian countries, plus India, Europe, Israel and Chile. The company was incorporated in 2004. It is a subsidiary of China's Yankuang Energy Group.
