How T Rowe Price makes money

It earns fees mainly as a percentage of the assets it manages in its funds and client accounts, so revenue rises and falls with how much money clients invest and how markets perform.

What T Rowe Price does

T. Rowe Price Group is a Baltimore-based investment manager founded in 1937. It launches and manages equity and fixed income mutual funds for individuals, retirement plans, financial intermediaries and institutions, and invests in public stock and bond markets worldwide. It also has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The firm picks investments bottom-up, combining fundamental and quantitative analysis with in-house and external research, and it offers strategies that focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. It also invests in late-stage venture capital deals, usually putting in $3 million to $5 million per deal. Because its revenue mostly comes from fees on assets it manages, its results depend on market performance and on how much money clients put in or take out.

What is T Rowe Price worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, T Rowe Price's most-likely value is about $126 versus a recent price near $105 (20% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$86) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
