How Quanta Services makes money

It earns fees from utilities, energy, communications, and industrial customers for engineering, construction, maintenance, and repair work on their infrastructure. It also earns revenue by owning and operating large load centers.

What Quanta Services does

Quanta Services is a Houston-based infrastructure contractor serving electric and gas utilities, power generators, communications providers, pipelines, and industrial customers. Its Electric Infrastructure Solutions segment is its core business: it builds and maintains transmission and distribution lines and substations, installs smart grid technology, and does commercial and industrial wiring. The segment also offers emergency storm restoration, aviation and aerial firefighting services, communications network construction, renewable generation projects, and training for utility workers. The Underground Utility and Infrastructure Solutions segment serves the natural gas, oil, and processing industries. It designs, builds, and maintains gas systems, provides pipeline protection, integrity testing, and replacement, and handles industrial turnarounds, fabrication, and storage tanks. It also owns and operates large load centers. The company was incorporated in 1997, first as Fabal Construction, and took the Quanta Services name in November 1997.

What is Quanta Services worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Quanta Services's most-likely value is about $431 versus a recent price near $706 (39% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$139) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $706
Fair value (most likely)
$431
Range
$242–$858
No-growth floor
$139
Price

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
