How Phibro Animal Health makes money

It earns revenue by manufacturing and selling animal health products, feed trace minerals and specialty ingredients. Its main customers are integrated poultry, swine and cattle producers, commercial feed manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors, reached through local sales offices around the world.

What Phibro Animal Health does

Phibro Animal Health, founded in 1946 as Philipp Brothers Chemicals and based in Teaneck, New Jersey, reports three segments: Animal Health, Mineral Nutrition and Performance Products. Animal Health is its core business. It includes antibacterials, anticoccidials, nutritional specialty products, licensed and autogenous vaccines, vaccine adjuvants, and microbial and bioproducts, mainly for poultry, swine, and beef and dairy cattle, with some products for aquaculture and dogs. The Mineral Nutrition segment supplies trace mineral formulations such as zinc, copper, manganese and iron that are added to livestock feed. Performance Products provides specialty ingredients for the personal care, industrial chemical and chemical catalyst industries. Phibro sells through local sales offices in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific to integrated protein producers, feed manufacturers and distributors, so its business depends on global demand for meat, poultry and dairy.

What is Phibro Animal Health worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Phibro Animal Health's most-likely value is about $8 versus a recent price near $38 (79% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$4) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Stretched — richly priced.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Stretched — richly priced
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $38
Fair value (most likely)
$8
Range
$6–$12
No-growth floor
$4
Price
~$38

Today's $38 is above even the optimistic Bull case ($12) — the market expects faster, longer growth than modeled here. Expensive unless that extra growth actually shows up.

⚠ High leverage — net debt is 49.9× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.

⚠ Capital-intensive — this business reinvests heavily, so free cash flow runs well below its earnings. Fair value here is built on free cash flow, which understates owner earnings for reinvestment-heavy companies — read it as conservative.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
