How PCCW makes money

Most of its revenue comes from recurring fees for fixed-line, broadband, mobile and enterprise telecom services through HKT. It also earns money from TV and OTT subscriptions and advertising, IT and outsourcing contracts, and sales of handsets and equipment.

What PCCW does

PCCW Limited is a Hong Kong-headquartered group founded in 1925. It operates through three segments: HKT, Media Business and Other Businesses. HKT is the core telecom arm. It offers local telephony, broadband and data, mobile, international and enterprise telecom services, and it also sells handsets, customer premises equipment, IT solutions and a customer loyalty program. The media business provides free TV, pay TV, content production, talent management and advertising, along with the Viu over-the-top video service. Other activities include outsourcing and contact center services, system integration and hosting, directory publishing, and newer ventures in e-commerce, travel, insurance, big data analytics, fintech and health-tech. It operates in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and other international markets.

What is PCCW worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, PCCW's most-likely value is about HK$6 versus a recent price near HK$5 (12% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~HK$4) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

⚠ High leverage — net debt is 14.6× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
