What Labcorp does
Labcorp Holdings is a large US laboratory services company headquartered in Burlington, North Carolina, founded in 1995. It has two segments. Diagnostics Laboratories runs routine tests such as blood counts, urinalysis, PAP, PSA and substance-abuse screening, plus specialty genetic, oncology, cardiovascular, infectious disease and women's health testing. Customers include physicians, insurers, Medicare/Medicaid, employers and patients who visit its patient service centers. The Biopharma Laboratory Services segment supplies lab support to pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and diagnostics companies and CROs. Labcorp also invests in digital tools: digital pathology, provider and payer platforms, patient apps for scheduling and viewing results, and a generative-AI test selection tool. It has research collaborations with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on pediatric diagnostics and with the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology on a colorectal cancer trial.

What is Labcorp worth?
On an owner-earnings DCF, Labcorp's most-likely value is about $275 versus a recent price near $312 (12% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$143) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.
Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.
⚠ High leverage — net debt is 5.8× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.
Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
