How Insulet makes money

Insulet earns revenue by selling Omnipod systems and disposable pods, which users must replace regularly, mainly through pharmacies and independent distributors. It also earns revenue by supplying pods to Amgen for the Neulasta Onpro kit.

What Insulet does

Insulet Corporation, founded in 2000 and based in Acton, Massachusetts, makes insulin delivery systems for people with insulin-dependent diabetes in the U.S. and other countries. Its main platform is Omnipod, a tubeless pod worn on the body. Omnipod 5 has an automated insulin delivery algorithm built into the pod and connects over Bluetooth to a third-party continuous glucose monitor to adjust insulin based on glucose readings. Omnipod DASH is a Bluetooth-enabled pod controlled by a handheld personal diabetes manager with a color touch screen. Because the pods are disposable, users keep buying them, which gives Insulet repeat revenue. The company sells mainly through the pharmacy channel and independent distributors. It also makes pods for Amgen's Neulasta Onpro kit, a delivery system that helps lower the risk of infection after intensive chemotherapy.

What is Insulet worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Insulet's most-likely value is about $352 versus a recent price near $135 (160% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$56) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge

Fair value (most likely)

Price

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
