How Harbin Electric makes money

It makes most of its money selling power generation equipment and taking on turnkey power station construction contracts. It also earns from after-sales servicing, environmental engineering, equipment trading, finance and leasing.

What Harbin Electric does

Harbin Electric Company Limited, founded in 1994 and based in Harbin, is one of China's makers of heavy power generation equipment. Its range covers several energy sources: thermal power (boilers, steam turbines, generators), hydropower generator units, nuclear island and conventional island equipment, and 9F/9H class gas turbines with combined-cycle sets. It reports through segments centered on new energy power systems, clean and efficient industrial systems, and green low-carbon drive systems. Beyond equipment, the company builds turnkey power stations, services thermal and hydropower plants, trades power station equipment, and provides environmental engineering such as desulfurization and denitrification. It also works in clean energy (solar, tidal, desalination) and runs smaller finance, leasing and biomass power businesses. It is a subsidiary of Harbin Electric Corporation and sells in China, Asia, Africa, Europe and the US.

What is Harbin Electric worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Harbin Electric's most-likely value is about HK$11 versus a recent price near HK$13 (22% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~HK$6) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
