How Gibraltar Industries makes money

It sells manufactured building products through home improvement retailers, wholesalers, distributors and contractors. It also earns revenue from designing, engineering and building greenhouse projects for commercial and institutional growers, and from selling infrastructure components.

What Gibraltar Industries does

Gibraltar Industries, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Buffalo, New York, is an industrial manufacturer with three segments. The largest by product range is Residential. It makes roof and foundation ventilation, mail and package systems for single- and multi-family housing, roof edgings, soffits and trim, drywall corner beads, metal roofing, rain dispersion products and retractable awnings. These products are sold mainly through home improvement retailers, wholesalers, distributors and contractors. The Agtech segment designs, engineers, manufactures and builds greenhouses and controlled environment agriculture facilities. It also integrates their subsystems, serving growers of fruits, vegetables and flowers as well as retail, institutional and car wash customers. The Infrastructure segment supplies bridge and road components, including expansion joints, structural bearings, seals, elastomeric concrete and cable protection systems. As a result, the company is tied to housing activity, agricultural investment and infrastructure spending.

What is Gibraltar Industries worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Gibraltar Industries's most-likely value is about $49 versus a recent price near $37 (33% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$31) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $37
Fair value (most likely)
$49
Range
$40–$69
No-growth floor
$31
Price
~$37

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

⚠ High leverage — net debt is 11.2× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
