How DNOW makes money

DNOW earns revenue mainly by buying industrial products in volume from manufacturers and reselling them to energy and industrial customers at a markup. It adds income from engineered equipment packages, pump rentals, repair work and supply-chain management services.

What DNOW does

DNOW Inc., founded in 1862 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a distributor of pipe, valves, fittings and pumps serving customers in the United States, Canada and internationally. Its catalog spans flanges, gaskets, fasteners, electrical and instrumentation products, MRO consumables, safety supplies and personal protective equipment, alongside its own engineered offerings such as artificial lift and pumping systems, production measurement technology, modular wellsite facilities and EcoVapo vapor recovery systems. The company's main customers are in the upstream, midstream and gas utility sectors. It also serves downstream and industrial markets including refining, petrochemicals, mining, water treatment, data centers, LNG and renewable natural gas. Besides selling products, DNOW offers supply-chain services such as inventory planning, integrated supply, valve repair, pressure testing and after-market field repair, which help it stay embedded in customers' operations. The company was known as NOW Inc. until January 2024, when it changed its name to DNOW Inc.

What is DNOW worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, DNOW's most-likely value is about $21 versus a recent price near $16 (35% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$12) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge

Fair value (most likely)

Price

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
