How China Reinsurance makes money

It earns premiums from ceding insurers and direct policyholders, and aims to collect more than it pays out in claims and costs. It also earns investment income on its float and fees from asset management, brokerage and advisory services.

What China Reinsurance does

China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation, founded in 1949 and headquartered in Beijing, is a major reinsurer based in China that also operates internationally. It reports five segments: Property and Casualty Reinsurance, Life and Health Reinsurance, Primary Property and Casualty Insurance, Asset Management, and Other. Its reinsurance covers a wide range of risks, including motor, property, engineering, marine hull, liability, credit and guarantee, health, agriculture, energy, nuclear, and space and aviation. Beyond reinsurance, the group sells direct and specialty insurance and offers insurance agency and brokerage services, risk evaluation and consulting, and underwriting agency services. Its asset management arm offers multi-asset products such as project-based financing, asset-backed securities, infrastructure investment programs and real estate investment programs. The group also issues bonds and runs IT and e-commerce operations. It makes money from underwriting and from investing the premiums it holds, which ties results to both catastrophe and claims experience and to capital market conditions.

Fair value: not published

For insurers, premiums and claims reserves (the float) drive the cash flows, so free cash flow doesn't measure what owners earn — and TacticScale's fair value is built on it, so it doesn't publish a number here.

We show a fair value only when the method is trustworthy. See China Reinsurance on TacticScale →
