It was founded in 1993 as China Longyuan Electric Power Group Corporation and took its current name in July 2009. The company is headquartered in Beijing. Most of its operations are in mainland China, and it also runs projects in Canada, South Africa and Ukraine. It is a subsidiary of CHN Energy Investment Group, so it has a large state-backed energy group as its parent. That makes it a direct way to invest in China's move to clean power.
