How Chemours makes money

Chemours makes money by selling refrigerants, TiO2 pigment, and fluoropolymer materials to industrial customers worldwide. It sells directly and through resellers, third-party sales agents, and distributors.

What Chemours does

The Chemours Company is a Wilmington, Delaware-based specialty chemicals maker, incorporated in 2014, that sells worldwide. It has three segments. Thermal & Specialized Solutions sells refrigerants, thermal management solutions, propellants, foam blowing agents, and specialty solvents under the Freon and Opteon brands. Titanium Technologies sells Ti-Pure TiO2, a white pigment used in coatings, plastic packaging, PVC, laminate papers, and coated paper and paperboard. Advanced Performance Materials supplies resins, additives, membranes, films, and coatings under the Teflon, Viton, Krytox, and Nafion brands. These go into consumer electronics, semiconductors, digital communications, transportation, energy, oil and gas, and medical markets. Chemours sells through direct and indirect channels, including resellers, third-party sales agents, and distributors.

What is Chemours worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Chemours's most-likely value is about $21 versus a recent price near $14 (57% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$15) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $14
Fair value (most likely)
$21
Range
$16–$31
No-growth floor
$15
Price
~$14

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

⚠ High leverage — net debt is 11.0× annual cash flow. Net debt is subtracted from this fair value, but refinancing at higher rates, principal timing, and share dilution aren’t modeled — the equity can be worth far less if cash flow weakens.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
