How Calix makes money

Calix earns revenue by selling its cloud and software platforms, access network systems and Wi-Fi hardware, plus related services, to broadband service providers. It sells through its own direct sales force and through resellers.

What Calix does

Calix, Inc. provides cloud and software platforms, systems and services that let broadband service providers run their networks and offer more services to their subscribers. The Calix Cloud suite (Engagement, Operations and Service Cloud) gives providers role-based insights for marketing, network operations and customer support. It is paired with the CommandIQ app for residents and CommandWorx for businesses, Calix Intelligent Access for automated access networks, and Calix Unlimited Subscriber for subscriber managed services. On top of this platform, Calix offers SmartLife managed services: SmartHome for in-home Wi-Fi, content control, security and cameras, SmartTown for community Wi-Fi, SmartBiz for small businesses, and SmartMDU for multi-family properties. These run on its GigaSpire and GigaPro Wi-Fi systems. Calix sells through a direct sales force and resellers across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific. It was founded in 1999 and is based in San Jose, California.

What is Calix worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Calix's most-likely value is about $52 versus a recent price near $37 (39% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$15) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $37
Fair value (most likely)
$52
Range
$27–$130
No-growth floor
$15
Price
~$37

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
