How Booking makes money

It earns money by providing reservation services that connect travelers and diners with hotels, airlines, car rental firms and restaurants. It also makes money from advertising (for example on KAYAK), restaurant reservation-management software, payment facilitation and travel insurance products.

What Booking does

Booking Holdings Inc. is a travel and restaurant reservation company. It was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut. The company was called The Priceline Group until February 2018. Its main brand, Booking.com, handles online accommodation bookings. Priceline offers discount travel deals across hotels, flights, rental cars, packages and cruises. Agoda offers accommodation, flights, ground transportation and attractions. KAYAK is a meta-search tool that lets users compare itineraries and prices across providers, and OpenTable handles restaurant bookings. The business connects consumers with travel service providers and restaurants. On top of its reservation services, it sells advertising, travel insurance, payment facilitation and restaurant management tools. This gives the group several sources of revenue from both sides of the travel and dining market.

What is Booking worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Booking's most-likely value is about $296 versus a recent price near $160 (85% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$111) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $160
Fair value (most likely)
$296
Range
$198–$504
No-growth floor
$111
Price
~$160

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
