How Axalta Coating Systems makes money

It earns revenue by selling coatings products and systems to vehicle repair body shops, automakers and commercial vehicle makers, and industrial manufacturers worldwide, through its Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings segments.

What Axalta Coating Systems does

Axalta Coating Systems, headquartered in Philadelphia and tracing its roots to 1866, is a global supplier of high-performance coatings across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America. It operates through two segments: Performance Coatings, which covers vehicle refinish products for independent body shops, multi-shop operators and dealership body shops, plus industrial liquid and powder coatings; and Mobility Coatings, which supplies automakers and commercial vehicle makers. Its portfolio includes well-known refinish brands such as Cromax, Standox, Spies Hecker and Nason, and industrial and commercial brands such as Imron, Alesta and Voltatex. For vehicle OEMs it provides the full coating stack (electrocoat, primer, basecoat and clearcoat) for light and commercial vehicles. It also serves trucks, buses, rail, marine, aviation and recreational vehicles, and supplies coatings for building materials, cabinets, flooring and furniture.

What is Axalta Coating Systems worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, Axalta Coating Systems's most-likely value is about $27 versus a recent price near $33 (17% above fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$18) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $33
Fair value (most likely)

Price

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
