How ArcBest makes money

It earns freight revenue by hauling customers' LTL shipments on its own trucks and terminal network. It also earns fees and margins by brokering capacity from third-party carriers and selling logistics services such as expedite, warehousing, managed transportation and moving.

What ArcBest does

ArcBest Corporation is an integrated logistics company headquartered in Fort Smith, Arkansas. It was founded in 1923 and was called Arkansas Best Corporation until May 2014. It reports two segments. The Asset-Based segment runs a less-than-truckload network that carries general goods such as food, apparel, furniture, chemicals, metals, auto parts and machinery. It also serves Mexico through arrangements with trucking partners. The Asset-Light segment uses capacity it does not own. It brokers dry van, refrigerated, flatbed, intermodal and specialized freight, and it offers ground expedite, ocean shipping (both less-than-container and full container loads), warehousing, managed transportation and consumer moving services. It also handles final mile, time-critical, retail logistics, trade show and international air, ocean and ground shipments. Together the two segments let ArcBest offer customers a wide range of shipping options.

What is ArcBest worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, ArcBest's most-likely value is about $171 versus a recent price near $129 (32% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$92) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Fairly priced — no edge.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Fairly priced — no edge
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $129
Fair value (most likely)
$171
Range
$129–$249
No-growth floor
$92
Price
~$129

Price sits in the normal range — fair value isn't actionable here; it earns its keep only when price drops below the no-growth floor, or runs to roughly double the optimistic case.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
