How AMN Healthcare Services makes money

It earns fees from healthcare facilities for placing temporary clinicians, and from permanent placements and executive searches. It also earns revenue from workforce technology and outsourced services such as vendor management systems, language interpretation, and revenue cycle solutions.

What AMN Healthcare Services does

AMN Healthcare Services, founded in 1985 and based in Dallas, provides healthcare staffing and workforce solutions to U.S. hospitals and other care facilities. It reports three segments. Nurse and Allied Solutions covers travel, local, crisis and labor-disruption nurse staffing, international nurse permanent placement, and allied professionals such as therapists, technologists and pharmacists. Physician and Leadership Solutions covers locum tenens, interim leadership, executive search and physician permanent placement. Technology and Workforce Solutions covers vendor management systems, workforce optimization, language services and outsourced solutions. The company also serves schools with speech-language pathologists, psychologists and nurses, as well as its Televate teletherapy platform. Its brands include AMN Healthcare, Nursefinders, O'Grady Peyton International, Connetics, Medical Search International, DRW Healthcare Staffing and B.E. Smith. Because most of its revenue comes from placing clinicians, results depend on how much U.S. healthcare providers need outside staff.

What is AMN Healthcare Services worth?

On an owner-earnings DCF, AMN Healthcare Services's most-likely value is about $164 versus a recent price near $37 (350% below fair value). But TacticScale only calls a stock undervalued when the price sits below its conservative no-growth floor (~$104) with a margin of safety — so the honest verdict here is “Deeply discounted.” Fair value earns its keep only at the extremes, not in the wide middle.

Verdict: Deeply discounted
Owner-earnings fair value · recent price ≈ $37
Fair value (most likely)
$164
Range
$128–$233
No-growth floor
$104
Price
~$37

On the financials alone, $37 is below even the no-growth floor ($104); the market's discount — expectations and sentiment beyond the numbers — is pricing in ≈ -16.7%/yr. A bargain only if that pessimism is overdone.

Analysis, not advice. Fair value is a margin-of-safety estimate from a deterministic owner-earnings DCF, not a price target or recommendation. See the full breakdown →
