What Yelp does

Yelp runs a website and app where people find and research local businesses such as restaurants, shops, salons, doctors, home service providers and auto repair shops. Businesses can list themselves for free and pay to advertise to nearby customers. It also sells tools that help restaurants take reservations and manage waitlists.

How Yelp makes money

Yelp earns most of its money from businesses that pay for advertising, such as cost-per-click ads and multi-location ad products. It also earns from Yelp Guest Manager subscriptions for restaurants, paid data and content licensing through Yelp Fusion, and partner arrangements.
