Sichuan Hexie Shuangma started as a cement company and still sells cement, clinker and aggregates for roads, housing, industrial parks and rural construction projects in China. Over the past several years it has added two very different businesses: managing private equity investment funds that back manufacturing and new-energy companies, and developing and producing peptide drugs and ingredients. Its pharmaceutical arm works on peptides for major chronic diseases, including semaglutide and liraglutide, plus peptides used in cosmetics.

Revenue comes from selling building materials (cement, clinker, aggregates) to construction and infrastructure customers, from management fees and investment returns on the private equity funds it runs, and from peptide API sales, contract development and custom manufacturing for pharmaceutical and cosmetics clients.
