Mortgage REIT and asset manager in real estate, credit and lending
Understand Rithm Capital →What Rithm Capital does
Rithm Capital is a US company that invests in and manages real estate and credit-related assets. It originates and services home mortgages, lends short-term to property investors, and owns things like single-family rental homes, mortgage servicing rights, mortgage loans and real estate securities. It is structured as a real estate investment trust (REIT), which means it generally has to pay out most of its taxable income to shareholders.
How Rithm Capital makes money
It earns income from originating and servicing mortgage loans, interest and returns on its portfolio of mortgage servicing rights, loans, securities and rental properties, and fees from its asset management and related services businesses. As a REIT it avoids most federal corporate income tax by distributing at least 90% of taxable income to shareholders.
