What Northwest Natural does

Northwest Natural delivers natural gas through pipes to homes, businesses and factories in Oregon and southwest Washington. It also runs the Mist underground gas storage facility and owns water and wastewater utilities. The company was founded in 1859 and is based in Portland, Oregon.

How Northwest Natural makes money

Most of its revenue comes from regulated gas distribution rates that state regulators approve. It also earns money from contracted gas storage, asset management services, water and wastewater connections and service fees, and smaller non-regulated ventures such as renewable natural gas.
