What Midea does

Midea makes the appliances people use every day — air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, kitchen appliances and small household gadgets — and sells them in China and around the world. Beyond the home, it builds commercial and industrial equipment such as elevators, central air conditioning, medical imaging systems, industrial robots and factory automation. It also connects many of its products to the internet so they can be controlled and monitored remotely.

How Midea makes money

Midea earns money primarily by manufacturing and selling appliances and HVAC equipment to consumers and distributors in China and export markets. Additional revenue comes from building technology, robotics and automation systems sold to businesses, plus smart supply chain, raw-material trading and financial services such as consumer credit and financial leasing.
